This course is designed to explore visible thinking routines, and how they can be applied in an early learning program. Participants will define what makes a thinking routine unique, explore and adapt specific visible thinking routines and discuss how these routines can be used in the classroom. Vignettes, reports of classroom observations and recorded examples will serve to focus conversations and provide a starting point for conversations about adapting and adopting routines in participant’s respective contexts and settings. Using the current research, participants will consider the early learning environments as a rich setting for deeper thinking and documentation.

Participants will

  • Understand why visible thinking routines are used.

  • Know where to find different examples of thinking routines.

  • Discuss examples of how thinking routines are used in early learning classroom setting.
